ChoiceOne Bank Welcomes James Rosset Vice President, Wealth Advisor, Announces Promotions to Leadership Positions

ChoiceOne Financial Services, Inc., and ChoiceOne Bank (NASDAQ: COFS) (“ChoiceOne”) are pleased to welcome James Rosset Vice President, Wealth Advisor and announce the promotions of Tyson “Ty” Schmidt, Luke Spoelstra, Louise Vermillion, Tara Weber and Tracy Dryden.

James Rosset joins ChoiceOne Bank as Vice President, Wealth Advisor (West Market)

With over 25 years in the financial industry, Rosset’s career roles include Mortgage Broker, Licensed Banker, Financial Advisor and the last 10 years as Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager/Register Representative at a regional bank. During this dual role, Rosset received multiple back-to-back awards for his investment and banking accomplishments.

Rosset studied Business and Bible Studies at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota. He has obtained his securities license series 7 and 65 and his Life, Health, Variable, Series 6 and 66.

Tyson “Ty” Schmidt is promoted to Vice President Wealth Management (East Market)

Schmidt began his career with ChoiceOne Financial Advisors in 2016 as a Financial Advisor, Infinex Investments, Inc. Broker. In 2021, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Financial Advisor, Infinex Investments, Inc. Broker. With over 20 years of business and entrepreneurial background, Schmidt spent 13 years as a financial advisor for Thrivent Financial in Frankenmuth. Today, he manages clients’ portfolios while developing new business, and training and coaching new advisors. Schmidt holds licenses in Life, Accident, Health, Series 63,6,65 and 7.

In addition to his role as Financial Advisor, Schmidt is active in his community. He is a member of the St Lorenz Male Choir, worked with St Lorenz youth on several mission trips, and served on counsels and boards at the church over the years. Schmidt also volunteered with Auto Fest of Frankenmuth for 20 years and was selected to represent Thrivent Builds (Habitat for Humanity) in San Salvador.

Luke Spoelstra is promoted to Vice President Network Security

Joining ChoiceOne in 2017 as Senior IT Analyst, Spoelstra was promoted to Network Administrator in 2019, Network Security Engineer in 2021 and Cybersecurity Team Lead in 2023. Prior to joining ChoiceOne, Spoelstra was Network Systems Administrator with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Orlando, Florida.

Spoelstra has the following certification – CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) as of October 2022. He also attended Grand Rapids Community College.

Louise Vermillion is promoted to Vice President Loss Prevention/Fraud Manger

Vermillion has over 40 years of banking experience. Joining ChoiceOne in 1998, as the Bookkeeping manager, she was promoted to an Officer in 2003. In 2014 after moving to Collections, bringing her Loss Prevention duties with her, she became an Assistant Vice President. In 2020, she moved back to Bookkeeping where her duties were separated, and she became Assistant Vice President Loss Prevention/Fraud Manager.

Active in her profession and community, Vermillion is a board member of Lapeer County Community Collaborative (LCCC), committee member of the Elder Abuse Detection and Prevention Program for Lapeer County and involved with several fraud security groups both across the state and country. She also participates with community fraud awareness talks with community groups such as Kiwanis, townships and other organizations.

Tara Weber is promoted to Assistant Vice President, Treasury Services Manager

Weber’s banking profession spans 21 years joining ChoiceOne intermittently since 2003. Over the last 14 years, Weber’s career remained uninterrupted with promotions to Digital Services Assistant Manager in 2015, Treasury Services Assistant Manager in 2020, and Treasury Services Manager in 2023.

As a community banker and lifelong resident of Sparta, Weber has volunteered over the years in multiple community events including Sparta Town and Country Days parades and events. Most recently, she volunteered in Trunk or Treating in both Sparta and Kent City and the Rockford Santa Parade.

Tracy Dryden is promoted to Risk Management Specialist Officer

Dryden joined ChoiceOne Bank in 1997 as a Teller. During her 27-year career with ChoiceOne, Dryden has progressed to Customer Service Specialist in 2001, Vault Teller in 2005, Audit Liaison in 2015, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Assistant in 2020 and her current position as Risk Management Specialist in 2022. Dryden is a Certified BSA/AML Professional. She received her certification from the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) which covers the primary requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
